Discipline is one of the most important partners in the healing process. It will help you sustain the physical activity, the nutrition plan and also your spiritual practice. Discipline will not leave you room to cheat, not to remain constant in your everyday practice and, very important, mental discipline will not allow you to give more space and intensity to the pain you feel in your body.
The biggest trap we can fall into, at the beginning of any practice, is to enter the area of negotiation with ourselves. The first exception you will allow yourself will naturally lead to several other exceptions. Imagine your brain as your child that you are in the process of educating and teaching what is good and what is bad. It is not enough to provide direction and education for a week or a month. The moment you cancel a positive program that you have implemented in your brain with the exceptions that you allow yourself, it will lose its direction and “respect” for the work done until then. It will stop listening to you. No matter how small the cheating is, it will make all the difference.
Seek to understand where you are physically, mentally, and spiritually. You will not be able to do this analysis alone, you will need outside help. In my case, I needed a personal trainer, a nutritionist, an energy mentor / master, and a psychotherapist. They will help you figure out what is your standing point and will help you build a plan for the future.
Once you have a plan, it must become your BIBLE. No matter how small the steps are, it is important that they are constant. Do not allow yourself to be lazy, to be easily discouraged, and most importantly, do not lie yourself that you have done enough at the first positive or negative signs. You won’t be able to fix in a week what you’ve broken in years. Stay open, analyze, adapt, search for information, and seek to understand how and why your body reacts in a certain way.
Discipline will be your balance.
